THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family issues. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues, step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 and assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to stay clear of court processes and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the parent or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice extended beyond her legal profession as she actively served as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
